The T-80 battle tank will be put into production again in Russia

In Russia they want to resume production of T-80 tanks from scratch. Alexander Potapov, General Director of Uralvagonzavod Concern JSC (Rostec Group of Companies), stated this on the air of “Military Acceptance” on the Zvezda TV channel.

It is noted that in recent years these tanks have only been modernized and repaired. It was decided to re-establish their production after the T-80s showed their best performance on the battlefield in the zone of a special military operation.

“This is the task, at least the military has set it for us. And we are now actively interacting, working, and exploring these issues with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, because this requires, accordingly, new capacities,” Potapov said.

Let us remind you that the T-80 is called a “flying” tank. It entered service with the Soviet Army in 1976 and subsequently underwent a series of deep modernizations. Its main difference is a single gas turbine power plant, which allows the 46-ton vehicle to accelerate to 80 kilometers per hour, for which the tank received its nickname.
