During the official visit of the Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, the heads of the defense departments of the two countries, Lieutenant General Murat Bektanov and Lieutenant General Bakhodir Kurbanov, observed the active phase of the joint exercise Hamkorlik-2021 at the Termez training ground.
According to the concept of the exercise, the combat subunits carried out the tasks of conducting search and reconnaissance actions, preventing a surprise attack by a ground enemy, destroying its forward detachments, repelling the offensive and the subsequent elimination of highly mobile paramilitary groups.
The joint exercise "Hamkorlik-2021" is aimed at increasing the degree of coordination and coherence, as well as the level of interaction between the military contingents of the two countries in the course of solving various combat training tasks in light of the increasing risks of aggravating the situation in the region.
The existing challenges and threats to regional and global security, including the situation in Afghanistan, became the subject of discussion during the official talks between Murat Bektanov and Bakhodir Kurbanov. In addition, the parties considered the current areas of relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the defense sphere, issues of military education and training.
Following the talks, a plan of cooperation between the defense departments of the two countries for 2022 was approved. It includes joint activities of operational and combat training, participation of teams in the International Army Games on the territory of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, mutual visits to exchange experience.
