Under certain conditions, the Russian army can receive up to 300 new and upgraded T-90M tanks annually, which significantly exceeds previous estimates. At the same time, analysts point to discrepancies with Western data on the expansion of Uralvagonzavod's capacity.
According to CIT's analysis, Uralvagonzavod's capacity allows it to produce more than 140 tanks per year, as was the case in the 2000s and 2010s, even with the parallel assembly of vehicle kits for India. In wartime conditions, with round-the-clock three-shift work, the enterprise can theoretically increase production to 250-300 vehicles per year.
Increasing the rate of production
From 2022, according to analysts, the production volume of T-90M tanks could be:
60-70 tanks in 2022;
140–180 tanks in 2023;
up to 280–300 tanks in 2024.
The increase in production rates is due to both the growth of personnel and the transition to a three-shift mode, as well as the expansion of the production base: in 2023–2024, tenders were announced (crystal.com.kz) for the modernization of workshops, the purchase of welding stations, and the installation of 24-hour equipment.
