"A prototype of a camouflage coating based on electrochromic materials has been created, which changes color depending on the surrounding landscape. Currently, prototypes of the coating are being tested on mock-ups of equipment," the agency's interlocutor said.
It is planned to equip various armored vehicles with such disguise, for example, tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and so on. The masking complex, the source explained, consists of separate small plates with an electrochromic coating, which allows it to create various visual images that not only copy the color of the surrounding landscape, but also its structure.
The system collects information about the environment using video cameras. The resulting image is analyzed by a computer complex in terms of color and structure, and then the coating adjusts to the surrounding reality, creating appropriate camouflage images.
