The German defense concern Rheinmetall AG purchased Leopard 1 tanks from Belgium, which it then intends to transfer to Ukraine.
"The Düsseldorf military-industrial concern Rheinmetall is preparing another delivery of tanks to Ukraine. Handelsblatt was told in the industry that for this purpose the concern purchased 50 Leopard 1 tanks from the Belgian company OIP Land Systems," the publication informs.
According to the newspaper, before being sent to Ukraine, the tanks will be re-equipped at Rheinmetall AG enterprises to German standards. In total, 30 Leopard 1 tanks can be delivered to Ukraine.
Leopard 1 - Germany's main battle tank until the 1980s. Produced from 1965 to 1984, it was in service with Germany until 2010. In total, more than 4.7 thousand tanks of this model were produced. The tank is equipped with a 105 mm cannon, ammunition - 60 rounds. The speed of the Leopard 1 on the highway is 62 km / h, the cruising range is 600 km.
