The military tank of the future is called VT-4A1. The novelty with all the details was presented as part of the 14th international aviation exhibition China AirShow 2022 in China, in the city of Zhuhai.
The new battle tank boasts various improvements in both defense and firepower. In particular, the VT-4A1 tank was equipped with a new APS active protection system and the ability to launch small attack drones.
In addition, the equipment of the new VT-4A1 model is similar to the original VT-4. The driver's seat in a tank vehicle is located in front of the hull, the tower is located in the middle, and the power plant is at the back. The turret design was slightly updated: the smoke grenade block was removed, it was replaced by a radar detection system.
Each side of the roof turret is equipped with a launcher which is part of the APS and can provide 360° counter fire around the tank. The armored fighting vehicle has protection against various types of threats, including ATGMs (anti-tank guided missiles), RPGs (hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers) and cumulative projectiles fired from tank guns.
The armor of the tank has also been updated. The sides of the hull are equipped with new armor plates that protect the entire upper part of the suspension, which they did not change. The roof of the turret was equipped with the new ERA reactive armor to protect the tank from air attacks. It also seems that the development received a new panoramic sight.
