Poland may purchase 250 US Abrams tanks

The US State Department approved the sale of M1 Abrams tanks and other military equipment to Poland in the amount of $6 billion, Voice of America reports. The United States plans to sell 250 of the latest Abrams tanks to Poland. This information was confirmed by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin during a visit to Warsaw on Friday.

“This is the most modernized version of the Abrams, and Poland will receive the most modern tanks,” Austin said Friday during a joint press conference with his Polish counterpart.

Austin stressed that defense assistance would "strengthen our engagement with the Polish military, increase confidence in our joint deterrence efforts with NATO allies."
