General Director of the Rostec state corporation Sergei Chemezov told the RIA News agency why the newest Russian T-14 Armata tank, which supposedly far surpasses existing tanks in its characteristics, is not used in combat operations in Ukraine. It turns out that it’s just a waste of money.
"Armata", in general, is a little expensive. In terms of functionality, it is, of course, much superior to existing tanks, but it is too expensive, so the army is unlikely to use it now. It’s easier for them to buy the same T-90s,” said the head of the Russian military-industrial complex.
“Now we need money to create new tanks, new weapons, perhaps cheaper ones. Therefore, if there is an opportunity to buy cheaper ones, why not,” added the agency’s interlocutor.
The T-90 is the main battle tank of the Russian army and is also in service with many countries. And the T-14 “Armata” tank is the latest development in the field of Russian tank building, which supposedly uses the most advanced technologies and powerful weapons. But for now, Russians can only be proud that it “has no analogues,” and they do not risk proving it in practice.
