Israel presented a fifth generation battle tank

The Israeli Ministry of Defense has officially unveiled the new Merkava Barak MBT. It is presented as a "fifth generation tank." The first armored vehicles have already been delivered to the troops.

The new modification of the tank largely repeats its predecessor Merkava IV. Here, too, the driver's seat is located on the left side of the hull, the turret is in the rear, and the engine is in front. Crew - four people.

The new tank is armed with a 120 mm smoothbore cannon; it can fire at a distance of up to 4 kilometers with highly penetrating shells and guided ammunition. It also has a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, another machine gun mounted on the right side of the turret, and a 60mm mortar with an internal breech. The tank is equipped with a defense system that is capable of detecting approaching ATGMs and causing them to detonate away from the armored vehicle.

A special feature of Barak is the high-tech IronVision helmet. It provides a 360-degree view of the battlefield for the tank commander with AI-assisted recognition and digital marking of targets.
