Armenia Examines Possibility of Acquiring Korean K2 Black Panther Battle Tanks

Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan visited South Korea in September to explore the possibility of acquiring K2 Black Panther battle tanks developed by Hyundai Rotem. This was reported by the defense news platform Army Recognition with reference to the South Korean media outlet Chosun Biz, Armenpress reports.

It is noted that the Armenian Defense Minister took part in a high-level meeting on artificial intelligence organized by the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea on September 9 and 10, and began negotiations on the supply of South Korean weapons, showing particular interest in the K2 tank.

The K2 battle tank used by the South Korean army is equipped with advanced technologies that are particularly effective and well suited for mountainous conditions.

K2 was acquired by countries such as Poland and Turkey. Earlier, the Ministry of Defense released a message that as part of a working visit to the Republic of Korea, RA Defense Minister Suren Papikyan took part in the "Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Sphere" summit on September 9.

As part of the event, Papikyan met with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Korea Shin Won-sik, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Cho Tae-yeol and discussed issues related to challenges to international and regional security and the development of bilateral and multilateral relations.
