France will offer the Indian Armed Forces its tanks Leclerc
The French government has announced that it will support Nexter's industrial proposal for India in the FRCV project, where it is planned to produce tanks in India together with "strategic partners".
In response to a question regarding the Indian Future Ready Combat Vehicle (FRCV) project, Dupont-Aignan (France) offered to resume production of Nexter's existing Leclerc tank.
The FRCV program has been developed for almost ten years and is designed to replace the fleet of Soviet T-72 tanks in the Indian army.
The first of the new tanks are likely to enter service by 2030 and will be equipped with state-of-the-art networking capabilities to communicate with both ground and air forces. The FRCV contract is valued at US$5 billion.
It is important to note that a few days ago, Russia also proposed to India to jointly develop a new battle tank based on the T-14 Armata platform, first presented in 2015 at the Victory Parade in Moscow.
