The first tests of a new US anti-radar missile from a fighter

For the first time, the U.S. Navy launched the Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile Extended Range (AARGM-ER) from a Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet. The tests took place off the coast of Southern California.

According to Defense Express, live-fire tests have confirmed the overall integration of the system, the operation of the rocket engine, etc. A series of additional tests is now planned.

The AARGM ER missile received a new warhead and a new rocket engine for increased range. At the same time, the tactical and technical characteristics of the product have not yet been disclosed. The missile is designed to destroy enemy radars, jammers and radio transmitters - that is, it must "blind" the enemy and deprive him of the ability to "communicate". In the American and Russian media, AARGM has already been called "the killer of the S-400 air defense system."

It is known that the US Navy plans to integrate the missile with the F / A-18E / F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft, as well as the F-35 stealth fighters of the Navy, ILC and the US Air Force.
